I offer a full range of bike maintenance and servicing. Minor repairs can be done at your home, major surgery will be done in my operating theatre!
Bikes can be collected/delivered at evenings and weekends to fit around your work schedule.
Recommended at least once a year, more often if the bike is in daily/weekly use
Safety check/frame and fork alignment
Check for worn/broken parts
Chain cleaned
Gears serviced
Brakes adjusted/new pads fitted
Wheel bearings checked/adjusted if possible
Wheels trued
Bronze level service plus:
All cables replaced
Hydraulic brakes bled/repressurised
Chain/cassette inspected for wear and replaced if worn
Headset check and regrease
Bottom bracket check and regrease
Bronze and Silver level service plus:
Full strip down
Deep clean
Rebuild
Bike will be as new!

Velo mate! has come from a lifelong passion for cycling. As a child growing up in rural Shropshire my social life from an early age depended on my being able to ride a bike. My friends all lived in different villages and I would regularly cover double figures of miles over a weekend of visiting them. At university, as for many students the bicycle continued to be my only means of transport facilitating watching sport, beers with mates and sometimes, lectures!
For the last 20 years cycling, alone, socially, with my family, in races has been profoundly more than just a hobby. Alongside my “day job” as a teacher it has been crucial in safeguarding my physical and mental health.
Velo mate! is my mid-life pursuit of the dream. As it grows it will become so much more than a bike repair business. It will become a vehicle for promoting cycling in its huge variety of forms and infecting others with my passion for all things bike!
